The Salmon Ponds Prize - Extreme Environment Photograph of the Year

This category is open to amateur and professional photographers.  The winning image will be the one which best captures the essence of an extreme environment or of humans or animals in an extreme environment.  The image will convey isolation, exposure, endurance and the power of nature.  Prize money in this category is $AUD5000.

The Pure Tasmania Prize – Wayne Papps Memorial

This category is open to amateur photographers only.  The Prize honours the memory of Wayne Papps, the AAD photographer who created so many superb images of Antarctica.  The prize winner will be the most striking image taken in the Antarctic or sub-Antarctic region, not necessarily of an extreme environment.  Prize money in this category is $AUD2000.

All finalists selected for exhibition will be entered in the FujiFilm People’s Choice Award.  This category allows Festival-goers to vote for their favourite image displayed in the competition.  Voting will be by ballot paper at Festival venues, closing on Saturday June 28.  The winner will be announced on Sunday, June 29 at the official close of the Antarctic Midwinter Festival.  The prize is $AUD500 worth of FujiFilm products.
