Solstice Antarctica is a new event in 2007 for the Festival Program.  NAB Solstice Antarctica is an Antarctic-themed art, science and entertainment experience that will celebrate the winter solstice and Australia’s Antarctic connections in a unique and exciting way.  The event will take place in Princes Wharf No 1 on Hobart’s historic waterfront.

Solstice Antarctica will commence on Friday 22 June with the Veolia Solstice Lantern Parade through the streets of Salamanca.  The parade will commence at 6.00 pm from Princes Park and make its way through Salamanca to Princes Wharf 1.  From 6.30pm to 7.00pm there will be free music and entertainment. 

At 8pm on Friday 22 June, the gates to Princes Wharf 1 will close for a ticketed night of live music. Join Ash Grunwald to celebrate the Longest Night of 2007. Ash Grunwald is a nationally acclaimed Blues and Roots Artist who will be headlining the program in a night of music, dancing and winter soul food.

On Saturday and Sunday 23 and 24 June, the festival continues with an Antarctic-themed art fair, ice carving, book readings, a blues and folk music program, science activities and exhibits, the Hobart International Airports Active Outdoor Wear Fashion Parade, a Cosmodome, a songwriting competition, cold climate food, an ice bar and much, much more...

Gates open between 12 noon and 5pm on Saturday and between 10am and 5pm on Sunday.  Entry fees are $8 for adults and $4 for children.
